U.S. Job Market Improves as Unemployment Drops to 3.7%

According to the latest report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the United States gained 199,000 jobs in November, while the unemployment rate declined to 3.7 percent. Average hourly wages rose 4.0 percent over the past year and increased by 0.4 percent, or 12 cents, compared to October.

The most notable job gains were observed in health care (+77,000) and government (+49,000). Employment also increased in manufacturing (+28,000), reflecting the return of workers from a strike. Overall, the November employment figures paint a positive picture of the U.S. labor market’s recovery.
